Ground-breaking minimalist Swiss pianist, composer and band leader Nik Bärtsch is poised to release his new album SPIN, with his band RONIN, in conjunction with a new documentary film Ingredients For Disaster.

The film follow’s Bärtsch as he travels to the UK’s premiere arts venue, The Barbican, to perform his solo audio-visual piece When The Clouds Clear and with his band, as they play at the UK’s leading techno festival in Houghton, Cambridgeshire in 2023. We see him perform at New York’s Lincoln Center and recording with legendary ECM founder and producer Manfred Eicher. Respected modernist musicians and even an Oxford professor of mathematics unpick his musical method. Ingredients For Disaster features a compelling combination of live performance, beautiful imagery, revealing interviews and stunning computer graphics, on a captivating journey that vividly brings to life the intricate complexities of Bärtsch’s music.

One Jazz proudly presents a video exclusive for the piece Modul 45 from the film, in the run-up to full release on 29th November 2024. This live performance of MODUL 45 was filmed live at EXIL Zurich in 2022.
