We’ve snipped this beautiful conversation and live performance from The Jazz Social broadcasts for you to hear.

DJ Lil’ Koko dives into the backstories and cultural significance of the music of New Orleans and Louisiana, with the New Orleans Royalty the legendary “Uptown Ruler” Cyril Neville (The Meters & The Neville Brothers), his son Omari and a traditional performance by the three led by Big Chief Bo Dollis Jr. on tambourine. They perform New Orleans Mardi Gras Indian favourites Hey Pocky Away and Shoe Fly Don’t Bother Me.

It’s a fascinating conversation and insight into how special New Orleans music cannon is to jazz, blues and funk.

Ruth Fisher in conversation with Blue Note international recording artist, guitarist Julian Lage at The Jazz Social pop-up venue at this year’s EFG London Jazz Festival 2024.

Julian also performed two exquisite solo guitar pieces.

Ruth Fisher opens her with a solo piano performance and conversation from Blue Note international recording artist, pianist Nduduzo Makhathini.

This was snipped from our live broadcasts from the new pop-up venue The Jazz Social, focal point of The EFG London Jazz Festival.
