Maria Grapsa

Maria Grapsa

Athens born, UK based since 2014; jazz pianist Maria Grapsa has been making an impact with her recent debut album ‘Life’ (Musical Dojo Records, 2023). As a classically trained, explorative jazz musician, she empowers her band to flow free form through original compositions; steam hard in tenor jazz and intricate, emotionally-charged cinematic ballads. Maria’s Greek roots and folk, middle-East and Latin influences, all meet the jazz tradition in a unique way.

A Help-Musicians-supported artist, Jazz Masters alumna of Royal Conservatoire of Birmingham, and winner of LUKAS Alternative Act 2019, she has performed in prestigious UK spots such as Southbank Centre, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Jazz Café, Pizza Express Soho, London Jazz Festival, and has been spotted in numerous projects including NU Civilisation Orchestra and Grand Union Orchestra.

Her music has been featured by Soweto Kinch-BBC 3, Jamie Cullum’s “Taking Off” show, Cerys Matthews, Huey Morgan and Jamz Supernova- BBC 6, Jazz and Worldwide FM, amongst many others. All About Jazz, Backseat Mafia, and many more press reviews are complimenting her work globally.
