Greg Boraman

Having been involved in the Uk’s jazz, soul and funk scene since the 1980’s, Greg has an eclectic musical knowledge that he utilised as a self taught organist as an A&R for various record labels, including his current imprint ‘Impressive Collective’. As a DJ he’s spun everywhere from Brighton to New York City, and is one of the resident spinners at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s.

Bitten by the jazz organ bug in his teens, it’s his specialist subject and led to him having a hand in the music and careers of legends Jack McDuff, Brian Auger, Reuben Wilson and Lonnie Smith. Greg has championed the sound of the mighty B3 organ for decades – in print, online and on air via 6Music and BBC TV’s The Culture Show. Greg’s prize possession is his 1961 Hammond Organ that’s been played and autographed by nearly all the organ legends, including Jimmy Smith, and the contemporary B3 kings Delvon Lamarr and Cory Henry – it was most recently seen & heard in the UK with Blue Note Records legend Ronnie Foster on the bench.

Organisms is Greg’s monthly round up of the evergreen genre of jazz organ or ‘soul jazz’ featuring both new music from the current crop of B3 players, with deep cuts, classics and exclusive tracks sourced from his own extensive archive and enviable contacts.
