DJ Lil’ Koko

DJ, broadcaster, music journalist and social justice campaigner, DJ Lil’ Koko (Kate Pieroudis) cut her teeth with an explosive monthly New Orleans residency at Ronnie Scotts Jazz club for three years before touring the world bringing the rich musical history of New Orleans and Louisiana to the masses. Heavily influenced by Tennessee Williams and literature from the Deep South, Lil’ Koko spent an extended sabbatical in New Orleans and Cuba in 2010 digging through vaults of record shops for buried vinyl treasures, befriending musicians and interviewing cultural icons. Returning to Louisiana each year since, for months at time to absorb new sounds, collect vinyl and interview pioneers, she lives and breathes the culture of this enigmatic state.

She hosted ‘The Big Easy’ show weekly on Jazz FM until 2024 and featured as guest DJ on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM show. Hosting stages at The Southbank Centre as part of EFG London Jazz Festival and a regular party starter on the European festival circuit, Lil’ Koko showcases lost stories and sounds from the originators of jazz, funk and blues.
