One Jazz will be broadcasting live during the 2024 EFG London Jazz Festival, from The Jazz Social, a new pop-up venue just a skip away from The Barbican Centre at Ropemaker St, London EC2Y 9AW. Join us there for a daytime hang with Wi-Fi and coffee shop and live radio shows presented by Kasia Konstance, Orphy Robinson MBE, Ruth Fisher, Jez Nelson and Chris Philips and live music from Rob Luft, Gary Crosby and Big Massive.

Weds 13th November – 10am to 2.30pm
One Jazz Founders Chris Philips and Jez Nelson host with guests and live music from the Hejira duo (guitarist Pete Oxley and vocalist and guitarist Hattie Whitehead) playing the music of Joni Mitchell ahead of their double afternoon performance at the beautifully restored Abney Chapel in Stoke Newington on Saturday 16th November, presented by One Jazz. Also performing live on One Jazz will be Lucy Joy and Thomas Sladden, an up-and-coming jazz duo based in London currently studying jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Hear luscious, sensitively interpreted standards and soaring, melodic original material written by both Joy and Sladden. Influences range from Oscar Peterson to Blossom Dearie, from Cecile McLorin Salvant to Kurt Elling, all imaginatively drawn into a soulful, lyrical sound. Come and listen and they will draw you into their world.

Thursday 14th November – 10am to 2.30pm
Chris Philips, Jez Nelson and Kasia Konstance (Heads Up) go live with guests and live music from Tomorrow’s Warriors founder Gary Crosby with Aleksandra Topzewska plus Dankworth prize winning composer and pianist Lior Solomons-Wise, joined by saxophonist George Johnson. This dynamic duo binds contemporary jazz with folk and classical influences. Hear captivating original compositions and selections from their favourite composers.  Having played together for almost a decade, they deliver an engaging musical experience that highlights their unique talents and creative synergy. Also playing are the Sam Plackett Duo. Sam Plackett (guitar) and Oscar Ho (bass) perform jazz standards and original compositions. Improvisation and creative interplay are central to this ensemble’s unique voice.

Thursday 21st November – 10am to 2.30pm
Chris Philips, Jez Nelson and Ruth Fisher will be on-air with guests and live music from Big Massive, a young, emerging jazz collective from London. Fearless in their exciting exploration of Black music as heard through their ears and shaped by the sonics of London jazz, the band draws from hip-hop, dub, jungle and R&B, creating an energy that is unmatched and makes for a unique “Big Massive” sound.

Friday 22nd November – 10am to 2.30pm
One Jazz are live from The Jazz Social from with Chris Philips, Jez Nelson and vibes legend and One Jazz host Orphy Robinson MBE. There’ll be guests and live music, including an introduction to our new contributor Lil’ Koko who will be interviewing Martin Shore, director of the award winning documentary film Take Me To The River: New Orleans, a celebration of the rich musical history, legacy and influence of New Orleans and Louisiana. We are beyond excited to welcome New Orleans’ own Big Chief Bo Dollis Jr. from The Wild Magnolias for a short performance illuminating the Indian culture of city, plus special guest Cyril Neville from legendary New Orleans funk band The Meters. Also live will be the Rob Luft Duo. Robert is unquestionably one of the finest guitarists in the world today and headlines the Jazz Cafe in Camden later that day. For this special set hell be playing in an intimate duo.
